One Direction Star Louis Tomlinson Makes Doncaster Debut

IF you ask many Doncaster Rovers fans which direction they want to be going in, it’d be up the Championship and away from relegation danger.

However, they only had One Direction last night as boyband star Louis Tomlinson, who signed as a non-contract player with Donny last August, made his debut.

Publicity stunt maybe but at least it threw Doncaster into the limelight and also raised money for a local children’s hospice.

Few actually expected Tomlinson to turn out for Rovers after ‘signing’ but he did just that last night as a 64th minute substitute for Doncaster reserves in their goalless draw with Rotherham.

The game attracted a bumper crowd of over 5,000 at the Keepmoat – not too shabby for a reserves game!

Fans of the band known as ‘Directioners’ travelled from afar to see him in action. Liliana Irisson and Alma Lidia came all the way from Mexico to watch the 22-year-old.

Tomlinson came on at right-back and duly gave the ball away with his first touch but let’s not get on his back – you can’t be good at everything, can you?
