It is a wet September night and planes thunder over Bedfont Sports’ ground, situated on the edge of Heathrow Airport.
Combined Counties Premier Division North side Hilltop have just secured a creditable draw against Sports, a team they lost to 7-2 on this pitch just four months previously.
I’m standing outside the changing room as the officials are passing. The referee turns to the man I’m speaking to, Hilltop’s founder and manager.
