SO, HOW did I find myself at the Samuel Montagu Youth Centre, Kidbrooke, south-east London in October of this year watching Grand Athletic v Xavelhas in the Metropolitan Sunday Football League Ron Pope Premier Division?
I suppose it all began on January 15, 1969 when I was taken by my dad on a Lesney Products works trip to Wembley to watch England versus Rumania (that’s how it was spelt back then).
