That was the Sports Editor’s directive to his young cartoonist – me. That was good. I could catch a train to Horwich. Not only was it on the main line, but also there might be an opportunity to put some train puns into my drawing.
Next day I was there, in the press box with the reporters, where I had the benefit of some local intelligence.
