WHILE many of us welcome UEFA’s Financial Fair Play ruling as an effective and necessary method in controlling debt, any hopes that it will make the game more ethical off the pitch and more competitive on it, are unrealistic.
I say this because it’s putting an even bigger emphasis on clubs to maximise revenue, allowing them to continue to spend huge figures on transfer fees and challenge for honours.
