MOST English football fans best know Bert Trautmann as the German goalkeeper who won the FA Cup with Manchester City in 1956 after playing the last 17 minutes of the final with a broken neck.
Trautmann played 545 times for City between 1949 and 1964, and ended his Maine Road career with a testimonial attended by more than 47,000 fans.
